Victor Rankanen
Anthropomorphic concourse
11 Dec 2024 - 11 Jan 2025

At Anthropomorphic concourse, Rankanen presents a series of work under the title Anthropomorphic concourse. Drawing from anthropomorphism, that is, when human characteristics are applied to something non-human. By attributing emotions and intentions to an inanimate object, one can create deeper connections.

Using a mixed painting technique that can almost be compared to digital collages, Victor has worked in a portrait-like manner with various porcelain figurines and collectible objects.

Fragile, lifeless items that often evoke thoughts of a past time are placed in a new light, revealing new, distinctive facets. The vibrant paintings are built up in layers, playing with a visual language reminiscent of digital graphics or photography. We witness a gathering of figures drawn from different times and places. They inhabit a shared visual world where they interact within an ambiguous narrative.
