Tom Hallgren
Distant Early Warning System
24th April - 3rd May 2026

Tom Hallgren’s artistic practice is grounded in a curiosity about photography’s complex relationship to reality, and how it can be used to engage with one’s surroundings. Within analog processes he explores themes of intimacy, distance, the body, violence, and vulnerability.

Twinship is often present in Hallgren’s work, as he sees in it a conceptual parallel to how photography relates to representation, identity and mortality. By photographing his twin, he moves toward a position of viewing himself from an external perspective, thereby blurring the hierarchical distinction between subject and photographer.
